Every month a group of like minded business owners determined to beat the odds and boost their sales meet at Thremhall Park on the outskirts of Bishops Stortford with sales mentor and entrepreneur, Steve Clarke of Eureka Sales.

Steve has started, grown and sold a number of businesses over the years, he even floated one on the US stock market – so he’s not spouting hollow theory! He brings in world class speakers to deliver short master classes and during the day the group work together to mastermind ideas to help grow their sales.

The quality and format of the group delivers incredible results.

One member, Gary White, business development director of Chelmsford based accounting firm CBHC reports an increase in sales for the first half of 2013 of over £200,000.

Howard Graham of HG Education teaches children engineering and robotics through Lego parties and after school clubs. Howard has seen his sales soar by 622% over the same period the previous year.

Alan Stephenson the owner of AJ Stephenson removals, adviser to the guild of removers and storers has been in business in Essex for 29 years. Alan has been a member of Steve’s mentoring program for 3 years and has consistently seen his sales rise year on year and puts much of this down to his membership of the group too. Last month Alan achieved record sales… second month in a row! “It’s a questions of knowing what to do when times are good or challenging, and that’s what we learn from Steve and his speakers” says Alan.

As a very special July bonus, Steve invited one of his 1-2-1 mentoring clients along to offer inspiration to the group. Mark Coulbourne MBE who is also a professional speaker, travelled all the way from South Wales as a favour to Steve to meet and talk with the group.

Mark has gone through hell and back to reach his first Paralympic Games at London 2012, after he broke his back in a near fatal paragliding accident in May 2009 and even though he was left with lower leg paralysis and drop foot in both feet, he fought for 12 months to learn to walk again with walking aids and now prides himself as a full time professional Para-cyclist for his country.

Mark was the superhuman athlete behind the very first medal won for Paralympics GB at the London 2012 home games with his well-deserved Silver medal on the track in the 1km individual time trial. He obtained a 3 second personal best time but was pipped for the Gold by the new World Record holder from China.

The very next day he broke the 3km pursuit World Record twice in one day at the amazing state of the art London Velodrome. He annihilated the current world record by 7 seconds in the morning and then went on to beat it again by 0.2 seconds in the final the very same night. In what is his preferred event on the track, Mark went on to win the 3km pursuit and obtain his first Paralympic Gold medal, as the new and up and coming GB Para-cyclist.

I first met Steve when we both spoke at a recent event on behalf of former Olympian and TV pundit Kriss Akabussi. As an athlete I’ve always understood the power of coaching and mentoring. There’s not a single successful sports person around that doesn’t have a great coaching team – so the same should be true in business…right?
